A Creator’s Story — Pam
Who I Am
My name is Pam Andrews, and at heart, I am a creator.
This is the story behind Creative Acts of Praise—and how a love for creating became a calling to care for others.
I love to create… with paper, with yarn, with fabric, with paint, with watercolors, with colored pencils, with charcoal. I love making jewelry, wood-burned pieces, candle holders, greeting cards, and paper flowers.
I love working with yarn—crocheting stuffed animals, prayer shawls, baby blankets, afghans, and throw blankets. I enjoy knitting, including entarsia knitting, and I love to sew. Recently, I’ve begun learning quilting.
Simply put… I just love to create.
How It Started
I am, and have always been, an introvert.
When I was young, I didn’t like being outside. I would much rather stay inside, learning how to knit or crochet, than be out playing with the other kids.
Creating became something I could do on my own… something that filled my time and gave me a sense of peace.
What Creating Does for Me
When I’m creating, I immediately relax.
The rhythm of the needles and the counting of stitches regulate my breathing. It brings me down a notch or two and helps me let go of the stress of the day.
I can sit for hours, counting and moving in that rhythm. And when it’s time to stop, I’m always in a better place than when I started.
My Faith Connection
I believe creativity is a gift from God.
That desire to keep going… to do something over and over again until it “looks like the picture”… that comes from Him.
And the joy I feel when I give something away—something I worked hard to create—it’s like giving a piece of myself.
The Turning Point
For a long time, I had a nagging feeling that there had to be more.
I was always making more than I could give away. Things would get made… and then set aside, because I didn’t know what to do with them.
That changed when I joined the crafting group at New Life Church.
I began to see the beautiful things other women were creating, and as I got to know them, I realized something—we all felt the same way. We loved creating, but we didn’t always have a place for what we made to go.
I knew these creations had value. I knew they would sell. But I didn’t believe I had the ability to build what was needed to make that happen.
Then something unexpected happened.
I began learning and working with AI… and everything changed.
I realized I didn’t have to already know how to do the technical side. I could learn it. Step by step.
And with that, Creative Acts of Praise was born.
Why I Said Yes
I saw a way to take what our hands create and turn it into something more.
Something that could meet real, practical needs in our community.
God gave me the vision. And then, one by one, the practical pieces began to show up.
I couldn’t say no to my God.
What I Believe Will Happen
I have the faith to do more than hope.
I believe God has called me to this ministry—to walk with Him and with the Church, my family… to be His hands and feet in meeting the needs of those around us.
I believe He will open the doors and provide what is needed.
Our role is simple.
We follow Him.
